Sonoma's has considerable experience in the Western Canadian oil and natural gas industry, with a particular expertise in natural gas processing and in development and commercialization of innovative technologies.

 

Ray Mills - Chairman, Cool Ventures Inc.

 

Mr. Ray G. Mills, co-founded KUDU Industries, Inc. in 1989 and was its Chief Executive Officer since 2003 until the sale of the company to Schlumberger in 2014. Mr. Mills directed the vertically integrated Progressing Cavity Pump (PCP) company with operations in Canada, Colombia, Australia and Kazakhstan in addition to alliance partners in Venezuela, Colombia and France. His career with Kudu began as Sales and Service Manager. His direct contact with the customer and their challenges led to innovations that greatly increased the economic life, in some cases by a factor of two or three, of marginal medium and light gravity oil field in natural water drive reservoirs.

 

In 1993, Mr. Mills moved to California to lead Kudu's growth strategy in the United States. Mr. Mills returned to Canada in 1995 as Vice President Sales and Operations. Mr. Mills co-led the introduction of a new corporate culture called "Lean Thinking" with the goal of becoming a "World Class" company.

George B. de Boon, P.Eng. - President and Chief Executive Officer

 

George is a professional engineer who has over 40 years of petroleum engineering and resource management experience in Western Canada. Throughout his career he has been involved in the successful commercialization of new oil and gas processes and technologies. He was founder and principal of Geo-Energy Ventures Limited, a private company, which participated in the successful implementation of the first CO2 miscible flood designed to re-activate a previously abandoned oil field in central Alberta.

 

George also co-founded Globex Resources Ltd., a public company, which pioneered (jointly with two other companies,) the use of multi-stage fracking technology to develop the Bakken shale oil play in southeast Saskatchewan.

 

George is applying his corporate expertise to the commercialization of the DPLC process technology at Sonoma's proposed Talbot Lake LNG facility.

 

George has a B.SC. (With Distinction) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta.

Clifford Johnson, QC, ICD.D - Corporate Secretary and Senior Counsel

Cliff is a distinguished lawyer in the energy sector and a seasoned executive, previously having held senior positions within the oil and gas industry.  Cliff's practice includes extensive experience in oil and gas, energy, environmental, corporate governance and dispute resolution matters as arbitrator or mediator.

With a focus on energy, Cliff's experience includes handling asset and share acquisitions and divestitures, joint ventures, product purchase and sale transactions, transportation transactions, dispute resolution and generally most aspects of oil and gas and energy related businesses.

 

Cliff has also published and lectured over 50 talks/papers, which include topics such as energy contracts, environmentally sensitive transactions, CAPL, pipe-line right-of-way encroachments and environmental regulations in Alberta, among others.  Cliff has been called to both the Alberta Bar and the England and Wales Bar.

 

Leonard Arcovio, CPA, CA - Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer

 

Len has worked in accounting and finance in the Canadian oil and gas industry for 35 years. Before Sonoma, Len held senior finance roles with G2 Resources Inc., Goose River Resources Ltd. and Birchill Resources Limited. Len is a Chartered Accountant and has a B.Sc. and a B.Comm. from the University of Calgary.

 

Peter Eaton, MBA - Director, Business Development

 

Peter has worked in financial analysis and business development in the Canadian finance and energy industries for 32 years. His most recent position as Director, Business Development for AltaGas Ltd., where he worked for 17 years. He was instrumental in securing sales contracts to support the construction of AltaGas' 30,000 US gallons per day LNG production facility  in Dawson Creek, B.C., which began commercial operations in 2017. Peter has an MBA from Western University.

 

Darryl Cozac, C.E.T. - Operations Manager

 

Darryl has 30 years of experience in the Canadian oil and gas industry. Before joining Sonoma, he worked for Pan Canadian as a field operator. He also worked in Wellsite Operations for Esso Resources in northern Alberta/BC, NWT and the Beaufort Sea, Darryl has considerable experience in IT support and software development and has a degree in Petroleum Technology from Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.

Colin Nikiforuk, P.Eng. - Senior Process/Development Engineer

 

Colin is the inventor of the DPLC refrigeration technology and has 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He has worked as a plant and maintenance engineer for an oil refinery, as operations manager of gas processing facilities in the NWT and as Acting Vice President, Operations for AltaGas Ltd., with responsibility for 70 gas processing plants in western Canada.  Colin has a B.Sc. (With Distinction) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calgary.

 

Dan Sych, C.E.T. - Senior Operations Technologist

 

Dan has 31 years experience as a gas plant operations and commissioning expert. His role with Sonoma is in facility design review, construction / assembly supervision, start-up / commissioning of new process facilities and providing ongoing operations support. Dan has a Petroleum Industry Certificate from Lakeland College and an Honours Diploma in Hydrocarbon Engineering Technology from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.

 


Dave Wandzura, P.Eng. - Senior Project Engineer

 

Dave has over 40 years of experience in the Canadian oil and gas industry. Before joining Sonoma, his professional experience includes various engineering roles at Gulf Canada, Czar Resources Ltd., Anadarko Petroleum Canada, and Morrison Petroleum Ltd.  Dave has a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan.
